Bigfoot captured in Photo in Kentucky ?

A Kentucky man said his surveillance camera captured something in his back yard last week, but no one is sure what it is.

Kenny Mahoney had the camera in his yard to capture wildlife photos. It fires when it detects motion. When he checked the camera over the weekend, he found the usual collection of rabbits, raccoons … and something else.

“It looked like it had the outline of a head, and, like, gorilla-type shoulders, and then the arms crossed is what it looks like to me,” Mahoneysaid.

Mahoney said he doesn’t think he captured Bigfoot on film. But that doesn’t explain what the camera saw, either. Mahoney said whatever it was smashed down weeds and grass as it passed.

His wife took the photo to a wildlife expert on black bears, who said that whatever it was, it was fur-covered. But she told Mahoney’s wife that she couldn’t say for sure it was a bear, either.

Here is the video of the Polish Yeti sighting. Since the sighting was reported and pictures as well as the video below have been released it has gotten a lot of attention and not only in Cryptozoology circles. The video is not that great quality wise and shaky so it is hard to see any real features of the creature. The video is being broken down and analyzed by various cryptozoologist and experts in the video field to try and get a better view of the creature as well as verify the video unaltered.  As always you can take a look and come to your own conclusion as to if this is “real” or yet another possible hoax.

Polish Yeti film Photo

Yeti experts are heading to Poland after a local man filmed a “monstrous, hairy creature” while on holiday in the Tatra mountains.

There have been rumours of a Polish Yeti in the area for centuries but this is the first time one of the strange creatures has been captured on film.

Piotr Kowalski, 27, from Warsaw was on a walking holiday in the Tatra mountains in Poland when he saw a mountain goat on one of the slopes. As he started filming, his attention was suddenly grabbed by the Yeti creature emerging from behind some rocks.

“I saw this huge ape-like form hiding behind the rocks. When I saw it it was like being struck by a thunderbolt,” he told the daily Superexpress.

“Coming from Warsaw, I never really believed the local stories of a wild mountain ape-man roaming the slopes. But, now I do.”

The film has been handed over for examination to the Nautilus Foundation, which deals with unexplained phenomena.

“The film clearly shows ’something’ that moves on two legs and is bigger than a normal man,” says Foundation President Robert Bernatowicz.

“But because the camera shakes so much it is difficult to say what it is exactly. We need to go to the site and see what traces, if any, were left.”

Call goes out for Alberta Sasquatch sightings

Author: CryPtoReporter  |  Category: Crypto News  |  Comments (0)  |  Add Comment

If you’ve seen any hulking hairy beasts or unexplained gigantic footprints lately, a group of sasquatch seekers wants to hear from you.

The Western Canadian Sasquatch Research Organization hopes a newspaper advertising blitz this summer will help sniff out reports from witnesses who have encountered the legendary hairy giant.

“Many reports are not brought forward because many people who have a story to tell do not want to be ridiculed,” said Roman Forczek, a Lacombe welder who specializes in conducting field research for the sasquatch group.

“We do receive a lot of stories that you just have to dismiss. That is unfortunate, because we do treat the research seriously.” The sasquatch group has already collected nearly 700 accounts dating back to the early 1800s of footprints, sasquatch sightings, strange animal vocalizations and suspicious physical damage in the woods.

Its researchers, which include a Calgary chemist and lab owner, have analyzed hair samples, shot photographs and video and travelled to secluded sasquatch hot spots in their quest to prove the legendary creature exists.

The group was founded in 1999 under the name Central Alberta Sasquatch Research. It now has 33 members and covers Alberta, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Yukon and the Northwest Territories.

“We are trying to unravel this mystery,” Forczek said.

“We don’t claim to have any concrete evidence or indisputable evidence.” But Forczek hopes that proof isn’t far off.

Already, about a dozen people have responded this summer to the group’s advertising blitz in community newspapers, mostly in towns along the front range of the Rocky Mountains. Ads have appeared in Jasper, Grande Cache, Rocky Mountain House, Edson and Coleman, and the group is organizing more ads in Alberta and B.C.

Strange bedding That advertising caught the attention of an avid hunter and outdoorsman, who told Forczek on Monday about a shelter and strange bedding he found 20 years ago in a remote cave in the Rocky Mountain foothills.

“This fellow strongly believes this bed that he found inside of the cave was not made by bear or deer or any such creatures,” Forczek said.

“It is in an area that has had numerous sighting reports over the past 30 or 40 years.” Calgary organic chemist Brian Baillie can’t wait to set up a sasquatch search in the area sometime over the next month.

“The best chance of us getting more evidence is someone coming forward and saying, ‘Hey, I saw one,’ or ‘I saw some tracks,’ and us getting out there to see what we can verify.

“We’ve got hidden cameras that we set up in trees and all over the place. We haven’t been lucky enough yet. We’ve got lots of pictures of deer and things like that,” Baillie laughed.

There has even been sasquatch evidence around Edmonton, with reports of giant footprints along the river valley and sightings near Hobbema, Baillie said.

In 1969, numerous unrelated witnesses reported a spate of sightings near Nordegg, including five construction workers who reported seeing an enormous creature at the Big Horn Dam.

The brother of one of those workers recently contacted Baillie as a result of the sasquatch group’s ad campaign. Baillie interviewed the man and went through his brother’s sasquatch scrapbook.

“His brother, to his deathbed, swore that is exactly what he saw.” Field trips Neither Baillie nor Forczek has seen a sasquatch. However, both said they have seen evidence the creatures exist during separate field research trips to verify earlier sasquatch reports.

Forczek said he heard cracking branches, guttural grunting and high-pitched screams outside his tent in the middle of the night during a sasquatch research trip southeast of Big Horn dam in August 2005.

A search the next day failed to turn up any physical evidence.

And Baillie said he saw massive, human-like footprints from a creature with a huge stride in April 2005, when he checked out a forestry road north of Nordegg where a man had reported seeing a sasquatch two weeks earlier.

The research group is serious about weeding out hoaxes, Baillie said. There certainly have been some unbelievable reports and at least one crazy request, he added.

Quite a few years back, one woman wrote to the group “looking for love,” Baillie laughed.

“She was looking for a sasquatch because she wanted to mate. We never got back to her.”

Where the monsters are – Cryptid Vacations

Author: CryPtoReporter  |  Category: Crypto News  |  Comments (0)  |  Add Comment

There’s even a scientific-sounding name for it: cryptozoology, the study of hidden or unknown animals. Obsessive fans of legendary monsters travel the world over to hunt down their legendary quarry. The most famous U.S. cryptid is Bigfoot, or Sasquatch, and in Scotland it’s the Loch Ness Monster, Nessie.

Cryp fans know that besides these top two, there are many more whose lairs have become tourist draws. In the U.S. alone, you might have heard legends of the Mothman (West Virginia), Thunderbird (Lawndale, Illinois), Chessie (Lake Champlain) and the Jersey Devil (Pine Barrens of New Jersey), while roasting marshmallows around the campfire.

Obviously the U.S. hasn’t cornered the cryptid market. If you grew up in Scotland, you would’ve listened wide-eyed to tales of Nessie, who lurks in the deep dark waters of the famous Loch Ness.

Africa boasts a bunch—the walrus-like Dingonek, the Gambo, and the Adjule. In Java, you would have heard about the massive, flying Ahool, found in the deepest rainforests. England lays claim to the phantom wildcat, the Beast of Bodmin Moor, and the carnivorous Black Shuck, said to roam the craggy coastlines of Norfolk, Suffolk, and Essex.

Given such a wide variety of cryptids, it’s no wonder that at some point, monsters grew from an interest into an obsession, and finally, into a career for Loren Coleman, author of 30 books and an adviser to TV’s “In Search Of” series. He’s even opened a museum on the subject, the International Cryptozoology Museum in Portland, Maine. This by-appointment-only showplace features artifacts, toys and artists renderings from around the world.

Coleman has traveled far and wide looking for mysterious creatures, covering every state in the union and much of the world. His favorite spot so far: Not surprisingly, Loch Ness. “It reminded me of the first time I saw Fenway [Park]. It was so green and so beautiful,” he reminisces. “I got up every morning to go looking for the Loch Ness Monster.”

“They have the haar—the fog that goes across the loch; it was amazing,” Coleman continues. “Like a fairy tale.” Besides the atmosphere, Coleman also found it a relief to be immersed in a like-minded population. “Just to have people not laugh at you for being into monsters. . . .” he half laughs. “It certainly has changed the economy there. It changes the economy of a lot of places where the creatures are found.”

Not everyone is as obsessed. Scottish filmmaker John McFarlane remains skeptical about the Loch Ness monster, his country’s most famous resident. Though she was first reportedly spotted back in the sixth century A.D., he says that growing up, it certainly was a topic of conversation. “When I was a kid, my grandfather told me it is quite feasible that there is a creature that lives in the loch … that’s maybe from the dinosaur period,” he says. “There was speculation that there might be a link from the loch’s bottom out to the open sea.”

Fact or fiction? Go and see for yourself, but watch out for large, hairy (or scaly) animals.

Bigfoot creature photographed in Sierra National Forest

Author: CryPtoReporter  |  Category: Sightings  |  Comments (0)  |  Add Comment

The Bigfoot creature may have been captured on a remote trail camera placed in the Sierra National Forest, based on photography evidence released by Sanger Paranormal Society.

Investigator Jeffrey Gonzalez said Tuesday night that multiple cameras were put in place in this remote area on Memorial Day weekend, and retreived on June 7, 2009.

Gonzalez said they did not immediately see the evidence, but upon closer inspection, noticed what appears to be the Bigfoot creature.

Gonzalez said a group returned to the site to review the exact capture spot after many theories surfaced once the original image was released in early July.

The tree stump theory was ruled out, he said, because the “dark object” is not there. Gonzalez said the bear theory does not stand up either, because the image does not have a snout on the head.

“You can see features of a human face such as the nose, mouth and chin,” Gonzalez reports.

“The arms on a bear, when standing, do not hang that far down. We also took measures on how high this thing was. According to the leaves and the branches that were covering the object’s face, the tape measure said it was between 8 and 9 feet tall. The same camera that took the picture of the object also took pictures of other objects such as black bear and deer, which does not resemble the object in any way.”

Gonzales said that Bigfoot investigator David Raygoza has been visiting this location for six years after an elderly Native American pointed it out to him.

He told David that this spot in the forest was sacred Indian land and that weird things happen here. He said David has had many individual sightings and has collected footprints, but has never captured anything with a camera until now.

Returning to the exact spot where the image was captured, Gonzalez said that the angle of the hill is 45 degrees, which would make it difficult for a bear to stand upright. He also said the the object is clearly brown in color, ruling out the black bear.

The Bigfoot creature has been reported in many different parts of the country during the 20th century, including an “outbreak” during 1973 and 1974, primarily in southwestern, Pennsylvania, and investigated by Stan Gordon. During that period, hundreds of Bigfoot sightings were reported as well as hundreds of UFO reports. No photographic evidence exists from that time, although Gordon collected many foot prints in that region.

On the hunt for Bigfoot

Author: CryPtoReporter  |  Category: Crypto News  |  Comments (9)  |  Add Comment

He spends his days walking, searching for the unknown along the Great River Trail.

Ed Welch put his foot in the door of Crypto Zoology when he retired.   In other words, he’s a researcher, on Bigfoot.

His passion stems from a Bigfoot sighting he had in northern Minnesota.

I saw Bigfoot within a three to four second period of time,” Welch says.  “I remember it was albino or grayish-white in color, because the sun was reflecting off it.  And I remember seeing the muscles rippling in the upper back as I was moving.  I panicked.”

He’s originally from La Crosse, and he says a few reports of Bigfoot sightings in Holmen and La Crosse pushed him to investigate.

Now he walks and walks, hoping to see a creature known to most only as a legend.

“You could be walking, and there could be one right by this tree over here.  You wouldn’t even notice,” Welch says.  “You’re not paying attention.”

Ed says the creature stays well off the trail, so he’ll walk miles into the woods to find it.

Every now and then, Ed breaks stride to do what he calls ‘wood knocking.’

“This creature will do something that’s called tree knocking.  I don’t know if it’s a communication between them or a warning towards us,” Welch says.  “When you’re out there and you hear this, it’s very awesome to hear.”

And even if his feet tire, he keeps walking, because a quest for truth can only be taken one step at a time.

“I thought of it more as a legend or Native American lore.  Other countries document it the same way,” Welch says.  “After actually seeing this creature for myself, I know for sure this isn’t a legend or a myth.  It’s a reality.”

New Bigfoot sighting in Fayette County Pennsylvania

Author: CryPtoReporter  |  Category: Sightings  |  Comments (3)  |  Add Comment

There has been a new bigfoot sighting and report coming out of Fayette County Pennsylvania. The incident occured on July 10th outside of the town of  Uniontown and was reported shortly thereafter. A motorist reported a near collision with a creature which description seems to fit that of bigfoot or sasquatch.

The incident occured on a two lane highway just outside of Uniontown. A lady was driving along on a nice clear day approx 35-40 miles per hour when all of a sudden she noticed a odd figure coming from the left side approaching her car. She suddenly swerved to attempt to miss what she thought was possbily a person walking out into the road, as she was making the turn she noticed that it was not a person but somekind of strange creature. As she stopped and sat there she looked into her rear view mirror and noticed the creature was now behind the car , she said “I looked into the rear view mirror and I saw it leap across my trunk.”! Just seconds later as she remained sitting in the car she saw the creature on her right side running quickly down the middle of another roadway approx 75 feet away. Then the creature disappeared and was not seen again , the whole ecounter lasted several seconds and was enough time for the lady to get a fairly detailed description.

She said she could be certain that the creature was not human or simply someone in a costume. She said the creature was a dark colored , hair covered man-like creature that was approx. 6-7 ft tall that walked upright on two legs and its head she said was large and elongated and all covered with wild looking hair. The creature she said also appeared to have a thin but long neck covered with hair but it looked strange as the head was big and the shoulders of the creature were quite wide. The face was also covered with hair except for a exposed area which appeared to be very white , hair was all over the face like a wolf. The nose on the creature was dark and flat but somewhat hairy and the mouth or ears could not be made out. The woman said the eye’s were the most prominent feature on the face as they were almost twice the size of human eye’s and circular in shape. She said the eye’s were very wild looking and had no iris or whites of the eye.

She said the creature had a very stocky and muscular body build. The shoulders were very wide and rounded and hairy along with the chest. The creatures arms were very long and hung down to the knee area with long ape like hair on them. Members of the Pennsylvania Bigfoot Society and Loren Coleman went to the location of the sighing and also interviewed witness and her husband. They searched a wooded area near the location the creature was seen but did not locate any interesting objects or prints. But when they examined the car they did come across some unusual scratch marks on the trunk and left side of the vehicle. Its possible these scratches were left by the creature when it jumped across the trunk of the car. The scratch area was about 8.5 inches long and 2 inches wide and the car owners said they had seen the damage there before.

The interview was completed with the couple and members of the (PBS) team said that the witness seemed very sincere and was still noticeable shaken up. There have been many Bigfoot reports and sightings over the years in the Fayette county area of the state.

Soppy – Illinois River Monster – Bigfoot ?

Author: CryPtoReporter  |  Category: Sightings  |  Comment (1)  |  Add Comment

So l have now returned to the northern hemisphere and summer has brought fruition to the greening of spring. Swimming pools are filled with the exuberance of youth, anglers are hitching their boats, and the Illinois River is once again the primary destination for the canoe enthusiast.

They come from all across the state, and the country, and all over the world to experience the delight of a slow, cool “float” down the Green Country Highway. They come to camp and float, they come to picnic and float, they come to fish and float. They come in cars, they come in campers, and they come – and I’m not kidding – on motorcycles. They come to see the clear waters, they come to see old friends, and they come to see the monster. Monster? Yeah, that’s right, the monster. “Soppy,” the now legendary Illinois River Monster.

In summer 1982, a number of my aunts and uncles had come from Kansas and set up camp at one of the larger establishments on the upper Illinois on State Highway 10. I was awash in kith, kin, and cousins, to the tune of 20 or more. So, I put them all in canoes, as was their wish, and sent them down the river. Several hours later, they all returned happy and hungry, with a wish, to repeat the experience on the ‘morrow.

I told them I would be happy to send them down again and suggested to the cousins a night float. They were all agreed, and the next day I sent the aunts and uncles, along with the younger cousins, downstream. That evening as the sun was sinking below the tree line, I put three boats of older cousins in the water and off we went. The moon was near full and the effect was that of an old black-and-white silent film. The trees shook silver in the breeze and the naked gravel banks shone white against the dark river. The only sound was the rippling of the passing water and the occasional thump of a paddle on the side of a boat.

All was serene until we heard what sounded like footsteps. Something was creeping down the right bank. Just out of sight, in the darkness of the tree lined shore. I told the cousins that it was in all probability a farmer’s cow, but I wasn’t so sure. I had seen cows come to the water, but there were fences, and this was an unlikely time to see a thirsty bovine. Whatever it was continued to follow us, and after 30 minutes I was convinced, by the wet hair standing on the back of my neck, that we were being tracked.

I did my best not to alarm the cousins and discouraged an attempt to beach the boats and investigate. We were only going four miles, About a quarter of a mile from our landing, the mysterious footfalls and rustling foliage faded into the forest. We loaded our boats, I accepted the thanks of my family and we motored up old No. 10 to the campsite.

I am not the only Okie with a tale on Soppy. On Aug. 1, 1990, a woman living in a mobile home near Eldon reported to Cherokee County Sheriff’s Department she heard noises, noticed a bad smell, and saw a creature about 10 feet tall and about 400 pounds. A deputy investigated and found impressions big enough to place both his feet in. Just two days later, an 8-year-old girl and her mother described a creature 8 feet tall with dark brown, frizzy hair and standing on two feet rummaging through a trash pile near their house. There have been several reports in this area since the early ‘70s.

On Feb. 5, 1996, a man living in the Vian Bottoms, about two to three miles north of the Arkansas River, saw a black figure moving in and out of the trees. He said it looked to be about 8 feet tall, huge, muscular build, with very long stringy hair, and walked upright on two legs.

In April of 2000, two friends canoeing the Illinois River had stopped at a designated camp point and something approximately 8 feet tall, dark brown in color, and covered in hair except for areas of the face and hands walked out of the woods. It began to cross the river, turning while in the stream to look at them, and then walked into the woods on the other side of the river. They investigated the area where the animal crossed and found tracks that were deeply imprinted in the soil.

A woman driving near Green Leaf Lake on Nov. 18, 2001, saw something cross the road in front of her. She said it was about 6-1/2 feet tall, with long, dark hair except for the face area, and had a thick build. She described the creature further as looking “like a person with hair.”

In October of 2005, Tahlequah 911 received a call at about 6 a.m. one morning from a man near the Welling bridge who said he had just seen what he believed to be Bigfoot. It was 7 feet tall and hairy, and from the anatomy it appeared to be female.

There is a woman who lives in the Pumpkin Hollow area who says she and her relatives have been “spotlighting” similar creatures for years. She says the animals smell of berries and urine. A woman living in Lost City has reported that three generations of her family has seen the hairy, smelly creature, and that it seems to be fond of children.

One of the most popular areas for Bigfoot sightings is the southeastern Oklahoma community of Honobia. In October 2006, a documentary film crew from Kansas visited Cherokee and Adair counties to interview the local citizenry about sightings and engage in a Bigfoot hunt with the Green Country Bigfoot Research Center. Afterward, they traveled to Honobia, near Talahina, for that community’s annual Bigfoot festival.

In July 2008, a woman living in an area known as Murphy’s Hill, near 14-Mile Creek, said she was receiving a curious and regular visitor that was “getting bolder” and “coming out in the daytime.” She said one “Sunday afternoon the wind shifted, and we smelled it.” She said she went into the yard and found the door to her dogs’ pen broken almost in half. And, that the dogs get really quiet when this thing is around. The previous February, a friend had moved into the trailer next to hers and soon after, he said he heard a deep, low growl and something shook his trailer. One evening the two of them were outside when they saw something tall and furry run between the trailers. They went inside and shortly heard a bang on the door and the sound of heavy footsteps running away.

This creature has lived in Oklahoma for generations. There are old stories among the Cheyenne of seeing the wild man traveling with the herds of buffalo. The old Cherokee called it Tsul ‘Kalu – the slant-eyed or sloping giant.

The Chickasaw chief Tishomingo hinted at the humanity of the Sasquatch: “Why do you want to hunt the wild men? My children, they are a tribe even as are we. They have families, hunt, fish, and procreate. Leave them alone and they will leave us alone.” The Comanche chief War Shield agreed, but added a dire warning: “Nothing that is said, or accused toward the hairy brothers of the forests, will cause them to leave their homes; they deal with the round eyes the same as we, they will kill the round eyes to protect their home.”

So, here we are again at the birth of another summer and the search begins anew. In May, a couple of dozen researchers again descended on Oklahoma, hoping to catch a glimpse of Soppy and his “cousins.” Equipped with night-vision goggles, long-range lenses, sensitive audio recorders, and an unshakeable belief in the existence of the yet unproven Bigfoot, they come. They come in cars, they come in campers. …

Searching for Big Foot

Author: CryPtoReporter  |  Category: Sightings  |  Comments (0)  |  Add Comment

Midnight, March 5. A young man drives toward U.S. 19 on Gulf Trace Boulevard in Holiday, Fla. He turns on his high beams where the road curves along some woods, just past the recreation center.

His lights catch a pair of yellowish eyes, then a broad-shouldered figure, 8 or 9 feet tall, covered in brown hair. The creature freezes before running to the tree line. It stops to look back at the car.

The young man pulls over 20 feet away. There are no other vehicles on the road. He can now see the creature from the shoulders up. The man doesn’t know why, but he thinks to yell, “Hi!” No answer. The creature disappears into the woods.

Believe it?

The young man sure seemed convincing when he reported the sighting to the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization. It dispatched investigator Cathy Betz, whose job is to separate hoaxes from actual Bigfoot sightings in Florida’s Pinellas, Pasco and Hernando counties.

She’s never seen a Bigfoot herself, but she is convinced they exist. Someday, she says, we’ll get proof.

Meanwhile, she’ll keep her day job: saving lives as a registered nurse in the intensive care unit at the James A. Haley Veterans Hospital in Tampa.

Betz, 45, has believed in the cryptid ever since she was a little girl growing up in Florida and her father took her to see the 1972 docudrama “The Legend of Boggy Creek.”

She read up on the subject, exploring evidence, and she became convinced that something was really out there. In 2003 she joined the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization.

“I never imagined myself doing this kind of thing 10 years ago,” Betz says. “But I love it.”

She has been on four expeditions in Florida and one in North Carolina, and she is now on another in Utah. It was on the North Carolina expedition in 2008 that she had her closest encounter with Sasquatch.

At least she believes it was Sasquatch. It could have been a bear. Something walked around the tent, touching the fabric and grunting.

“I can’t say with certainty what it was,” Betz said, “but it was in a place with a lot of sightings.”

Two days after the Holiday man said he saw a swamp monster, Betz met him at the scene. She compared his story to the version he submitted to the Bigfoot Field Researchers Organization online. It was consistent.

They searched for tracks but didn’t find any. He told her he was sure he had not seen a bear or a human.

Betz’s notes are secret, she says, in order to protect the witnesses. She says the young man did not want to be publicly identified.

She considers her role to be much like what a police investigator does.

“We don’t want to be considered like a fluff organization,” she says. “In order to be taken seriously, we feel like we should separate out the stories that don’t pan out.”

As part of her investigations, she often cross-check facts, such as if the witness says it was a full moon. And she examines the area, looking for tracks, hair and other clues. She knows all about inspecting footprints for dermal ridges and mid-tarsal breaks.

“We’re really a research- and science-based organization trying to get as much evidence as we can,” she says. “We don’t want people to think that we’re just throwing everything out there that we get.”

Henry Cabbage, a spokesman for the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, said Bigfoot’s existence has not been confirmed. But the agency does keep a file on the subject, which includes news clippings and letters from people requesting permits to go out and catch one.
