Is Bigfoot in Florida ?

It is for those who claim they have seen the elusive ape-like creature roaming the woods and swamps of Florida including Polk County’s Green Swamp. Sightings of the animal have been reported around the world but rare, with quality photographs and videos even rarer.

Bigfoot and Sasquatch are names familiar to North Americans who have aggressively pursued evidence of the animal’s actual existence. As of this date only occasional sightings have been reported within any given year with no physical evidence ever found, other than hair samples whose DNA does not match that of any known animal.

Some speculate the creature is an offspring of a prehistoric monster ape that towered as tall as 15 feet and weighed 800 pounds, thought to be extinct hundreds of thousands of years ago.

A popular TV program, “Monster Quest,” which sponsors numerous expeditions to confirm reports of rare or unknown wild beasts, reptiles and giant birds, has drawn more light on the subject and predictably, claimed sightings have increased exponentially. The expeditions to confirm the beast’s existence have traveled worldwide and covered most continents.

The name Bigfoot has been associated with the ape-like creature in North America; Sasquatch for the same creature but referring to the Indian name that is centuries old. The Abominable Snowman or Yeti originated from footprint sightings in the Himalayan Mountains and has spread to most countries.

Many of the Bigfoot observations, particularly those observed in Florida’s swamp areas, including Polk County’s Green Swamp, have been reported to have a very pungent and musty rotten egg smell, resulting in the moniker “Skunk Ape.” The sightings report the creature’s hair or fur varies between black, brown or reddish – the latter similar to an Orangutan’s.

Fresh and distinctive footprints, measuring up to 15-inches, have been observed and numerous plaster cast impressions successfully recovered. At several locations where footprints of the ape-man have been seen, samples of hair also have been recovered and failed to match that of any indigenous animal, with the exception of a small percentage that turned out to be bear-related.

One is led to believe that with as many people reporting what they saw as real and described as a giant upright ape, seven to 10 feet tall and weighing up to 500 pounds or more, have, for the most part, passed polygraph testing. Observations have come from a variety of credible sources including naturalists, forest rangers, surveyors, loggers and members of professional expeditions.

All sightings reveal the creature to be bipedal, or walking and running upright on two feet.

The creature has been observed as capable of superhuman feats such as jumping over obstacles as high as five feet or clearing streams 12 feet wide with ease; feats highly unlikely for a human being to accomplish while wearing a heavy monkey suit.

Skeptics speculate the creature is a manifestation of those with a vivid imagination or simply a man dressed in a clever gorilla suit and imitating a Sasquatch. The height of the observed creatures and the size of the footprint and weight required to create a deep imprint as those observed would make it almost impossible to replicate in the remote woods by a human being.

The observed physical abilities of the creature far exceed anything humanly possible, especially in hot and humid Florida, wearing a suit of thick hair and running 100 yards or more in 90 degree weather.

Only verifiable physical evidence will erase the doubt the vast majority of people have as to the validity of Bigfoot, especially as reported in Polk County’s Green Swamp.

Fortunately, no one as of this date has shot and killed a Sasquatch to prove they exist. It would be an unforgivable act if someone did.

Texas Man Says He Has Mythical Chupacabra

Author: CryPtoReporter  |  Category: Crypto News  |  Comments (0)  |  Add Comment

A man living north of San Antonio says he has quite the animal sitting in his freezer — and it may be a mythical chupacabra.

Jerry Ayer, a teacher at the Blanco Taxidermy School in Blanco, Texas, told TV station KSAT that he’s never seen anything like it.

“Different, that’s for sure, very interesting,” said Ayer.

The find comes amid a number of strange sightings in the area. The animal is gray in color with leathery, hairless skin and large fangs.

“The front legs seem to be a little bit longer than a typical coyote, very irregular and never seen any that have legs like that,” said Ayer.

Similar animals have been spotted across the country and deep in South America.

“I don’t know what to call it, I’ll just call it a chupacabra too,” Ayer told KSAT.

He said he came across the animal because a former student of his didn’t know what it was either and sought advice.

“It got into his cousin’s barn and they thought maybe it was a rodent tearing things up, and they had no idea since they’ve never seen it,” said Ayer. “He got out some poison, and this is what they got the very next day.”

Ayer said he plans to preserve the animal with taxidermy. He also said he hopes a local museum will take it for display so everyone can marvel at the strange animal.

“It’s definitely something I don’t want to throw away,” said Ayer. “I think it will be an interesting mount and a tremendous conversation piece.”

The chupacabra myth began not long ago in the 1990s when eyewitnesses claimed to have seen it in Puerto Rico. Farmers there said sheep were found with puncture wounds and were drained of blood. A total of 150 farm animals were reportedly killed by the beast. Since then, sightings have been reported from Chile to Maine.

The mythical beast also found its way into popular culture and television. CNN’s Ed Lavandera called the chupacabra the “bigfoot of Latino culture.” The animal gets its name from Spanish, chupacabra literally means “goat sucker.”

Finds like the one in Blanco have appeared on the History Channel’s “Monster Quest,” they were subsequently determined to be dogs or coyotes.

Mysterious sea creature off Singer Island

Singer Island has its very own (kind of, sort of) sea monster, and it’s a TV star.

The popular History Channel show MonsterQuest was in town this year to film an episode about a strange being cavorting in the Lake Worth Lagoon. The location wasn’t divulged during the show for fear that people would disturb the animal.

But a Florida Atlantic University professor interviewed for the show confirms that those red and white smokestacks seen in some shots are, in fact, the Riviera Beach Florida Power & Light plant, and that the general stomping grounds of the alleged sea monster are waters near Singer Island.

MonsterQuest was lured here by video taken by Palm Beach Gardens resident Gene Sowerwine.

Film clips of the animal reveal “stunning evidence of a sea beast hunting for prey,” according to the show.

A trident-shaped tail slaps mirror-like water in one image; a strange elongated snout breaks the surface to take a quick breath in another.

One of the stars of the show, which originally aired in April, is FAU oceanography Professor Ed Petuch.

“What in heaven’s name is that,” Petuch exclaims playfully when shown images of the beast. “Very interesting, that’s very wild.”

Petuch ends the suspense of the hourlong episode with his conclusion that the Singer Island sea monster could be a wayward arctic seal – extremely rare for these parts but not unheard of. (The trident tail, one expert says, is likely a boat-mangled manatee fluke.)

And while Petuch takes the show for what it is – a spot of fun – he said it is also a poignant reminder of environmental conditions.

If the Singer Island sea monster is a hooded or bearded seal, it points to the possible displacement of such animals by global warming or overfishing.

“Nature is never constant, by law,” Petuch said. “The ice is melting, the surface waters are becoming more fresh water, and it’s driving them out of their normal ranges.”

In 2007, a bearded seal was caught in Fort Lauderdale after leading rescuers on a chase south from Hobe Sound. The year before, two hooded seals were found locally, one in Martin County, another 2 miles north of The Breakers hotel in Palm Beach.

But Sowerwine, who could not be reached for comment, sounds convinced in his MonsterQuest episode that what he has witnessed is no seal.

As eerie music bah-dumps in the background, the lifelong outdoorsman explains: “This is something I’ve never seen and I believe is totally unknown to science.”

Martine DeWit, associate research scientist with the Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission, is a wet blanket on the Singer Island sea monster.

In her estimation, and she also is interviewed on the show, it is simply a manatee.

A boat-battered manatee, but a manatee no less.

“We know manatees can look like that when they get hit by a propeller,” DeWit said.

But what about that snout?

It appears longer than a manatee’s, Petuch says above MonsterQuest music – bah-dump.

“It appears to move at surprising speed,” a voice-over proclaims – bah-dump.

One MonsterQuest drawing of the seal/manatee-like beast includes ominous tusks.

“If this thing does exist like this, it would be one of the greatest discoveries of all time,” Petuch says to the camera with a quick smile – bah-dump.
